Bereavement Support Group

Wednesdays Beginning October 1st

A bereavement support group for anyone who is mourning the death of a loved one will begin meeting at St. Edward's the week of October 1st at 6:30 PM.

The group will meet for 8 consecutive weeks. If you are interested in attending, need more information, or know of someone

who might benefit from participating in the group, please contact Dan Peyron at dan.peyron@live.com or 518-330-5623.

Travel-Sized Gifts For The Elderly

Collecting 10/4 - 11/14

Our first graders will be packing Personal Care bags for the elderly. These will be distributed through agencies around the area for Christmas.

We will be collecting new, unopened travel-sized personal care items from October 4th through November 14th.

We are in need of:

  • Soap
  • Shampoo/Conditioner
  • Lotion
  • Deodorant
  • Toothpaste & Mouthwash
  • Kleenex
  • Chapstick

There will be bins in the atrium for these items. Please place the items in the appropriate bins. Thank you for your continued support!

The Unleashing Love Women’s Conference empowers women to open their hearts to God’s love. The day includes Mass, Reconciliation, Rosary/Adoration, small group connections, and keynote speakers Sr. Susan Zemgulis, OP, and Danielle Bean.

Priesthood Sunday is an opportunity to reflect on the gift of the priesthood, to thank our priests for their faithful ministry, and to pray for them as they continue to guide us in faith. At St. Edward’s, we are especially grateful for the leadership, compassion, and spiritual care of our priests, Fr. Dan, Fr. Jim, and Fr. Pat. Their presence at the altar, in the confessional, at our hospitals, and in our community reminds us that God continues to work through them in powerful ways. Let us take time this week to offer our personal thanks, a kind note, or, most importantly, our prayers for our priests. May God bless them abundantly in their ministry, and may He continue to raise up new vocations to serve the Church for generations to come.

Please go through your closets to locate NEW OR GENTLY USED coats and snow pants that are clean. Adult and children’s sizes are needed. The Ladies of Charity, a Catholic Women’s organization, will be distributing them in October to families residing in Cohoes, Green Island, Waterford and Watervliet. You may leave coats in the collection boxes in the Atrium until Sunday, October 5th . Thank you for your continuous help as many families are supported by your generosity with lovely coats year after year. St. John Paul II taught that β€œwork is a good thing for man, a good thing for his humanity, because through work man not only transforms nature, adapting it to his own needs, but he also achieves fulfillment as a human being.” On this day, we pray for all workers and for fair wages, safe conditions, and respect for their dignity. We lift up those who are unemployed, underemployed, or burdened by unjust labor practices. And we remember that every job, no matter how humble, is a chance to serve others and give glory to God. May St. Joseph the Worker, the patron saint of laborers, guide and protect all who labor in body, mind, and spirit.
