“On your part, you must make it your constant care to bring them up in the practice of your faith.” (Rite of Baptism for Children)
Parents are the primary teachers of our faith. We ask that you share your faith with your children, sharing both your spiritual and prayer lives with them. Families are encouraged to attend Mass weekly. Please pray with your children. When they enter Pre-K/Kindergarten children should be familiar with the Sign of the Cross and should be working on the Our Father, Hail Mary, and the Glory Be. All grade levels will practice these prayers during class. The Apostles’ Creed will be introduced in third grade.
Thank you for entrusting St. Edward's as we assist you in guiding your child throughout their faith journey. Each of our programs is designed to educate and enrich your child's faith life.
Our classes meet approximately twice per month. Each class includes prayer, stories, discussion, and song. Special events are held in Advent, Ash Wednesday, and Lent. Families are welcome to attend these events. Each grade level will have a specific theme. We will review the Liturgical Year, 10 Commandments, Sacraments, and prayers each year. Please see below for information regarding each grade level's focus.
Our volunteer catechists invest their time, energy, and faith to prepare for each class. While attendance each week is strongly encouraged, we recognize that life can be complicated. If you cannot attend, please contact me prior to class.

Fifth Grade is all about the Sacraments: What is a Sacrament? Why do we have Sacraments? What are the Sacraments? We will look at each of the Sacraments individually. The children will share experiences from Sacraments that they have participated in and witnessed.
