COVID-19 Parish Updates

Important Update: We have been receiving questions about attending Mass in church after the President called churches essential. The Diocese has not approved a plan for the in-person celebration of Mass. We will continue streaming Mass each weekend and will keep you informed as new information about reopening for Mass becomes available.

Please Continue Your Generous Food Pantry Donations!! Volunteers for Deliveries Needed (Updated 5/12)

We want to thank everyone who has been generously filling the boxes located in the Faith Formation vestibule, by the old circle, with donations for the food pantries.  Please keep these donations coming. That one extra item you purchase at the grocery store may be what keeps someone from going to bed tonight hungry. Often the items most needed are those that are on sale or BOGO. Consider getting one for you and one for the food pantry. Thank you so much for your support.

The food pantries are currently in need of the following items (most needed items in bold):

  • Cereal

  • Instant rice and Noodle Packets

  • Canned Fruit

  • Toothpaste, Shampoo, Dish Soap

  • Toilet Paper

  • Paper Towels

  • Tuna Fish

  • Canned/Boxed potatoes

  • Canned Vegetables (not green beans)

  • Tomato products

  • Cookies

  • Crackers

If you are able to contribute, please drop off items in the entrance vestibule by the Faith Formation entrance and prayer garden where the old circle used to be.

All the generous donations that are mentioned above must be delivered to local food pantries. Volunteers collect these donations from the Church and deliver them weekly on a rotating basis. We are currently in need of additional volunteers to make deliveries to the  Mechanicville Area Community Center on Wednesday's between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Please contact Denise Burrall via email at dburrall@icloud.com for further information.

A Reminder of our Church (4/29)

We all miss being together in church. We miss the community, but we do also miss the building itself and being in God's House. We hope you enjoy this video reminding us of the place we come to celebrate God's love. Click here to watch.

ATTENTION: Our Mass Live Stream Time is Changing. Also, Join Us For Evening Prayer Wednesday Night at 7:00 PM (Updated 4/20)

While we will continue to live stream Mass, the time will be changing. The new time for our live-streamed Mass will be Saturday at 4:00 PM. We always encourage people to join together with us live, however, we understand that not everyone can join us at a specific time. This new time will allow people more time to be able to watch Mass throughout the weekend if they miss our Saturday live stream.  As a reminder, you can revisit any of our streams by clicking here.

Also, we will be offering the opportunity to join us for evening prayer Wednesday at 7:00 PM on our YouTube channel. There will be music, prayer, and a reflection. We hope you will join us. You can find a worship aid here.

We Invite You & Your Children To Help Write Letters To First Responders. Donations Are Also Being Accepted for the St. Edward's Meal Fund For First Responders (Updated 4/20)

In this difficult time, it's important to remember those people who are helping us daily to fight this pandemic and to keep some semblance of normalcy in our daily lives.

In order to thank some of the many people who are working on the front lines, We invite you and your children (of all ages!) to write a letter of thanks to one or more of the following groups:

  • Medical personnel - doctors, nurses, hospital staff, who are fighting every day to save lives

  • EMS workers and law enforcement, who put themselves and their families at risk whenever they respond to a call

  • Retail workers, who are keeping us in food, medicine, and toilet paper

  • Delivery service workers - US Postal Service, UPS, FedEx, who keep our mail and packages coming

You may drop off letters of thanks to a box in the Faith Formation vestibule any time before Friday, April 24, or you may email your letters directly to Mary Jo Brue at maryjo.brue@stedwardsny.org. Please do not fold letters or seal envelopes - we will be scanning your letters so that we can distribute them electronically as well as in hard copy.

You may also wish to donate money, either online or by check, to provide meals to some of the groups mentioned above. All donations will be used in our local area. Please click here to donate, or write your check to St. Edward's, with Meal Fund for First Responders in the memo line.

If you can, I ask you to continue your weekly/monthly support of St. Edward’s Parish through Faith Direct

Some of our parishioners and others in our local area who are in severe financial stress have contacted us about their ability to pay their bills at this time. All of us are concerned about how long this crisis will last. I and the parish Finance Committee are concerned as well. Our parish still has financial commitments to meet as well as an increased need for community and parish outreach.  If you are in a position to do so, I ask you to continue your weekly/monthly support of St. Edward’s parish. This can be by contributing through Faith Direct, our electronic giving resource, or by mailing your contributions to the parish: St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, NY 12065. If you would like to learn more about Faith Direct click here.

We Will Be Live Streaming Mass at 11:00 AM on Sundays &  An Hour of Prayer and Meditation on Wednesday Nights

Many of you have asked if we will have a live-streamed Mass on the weekends. We have worked hard to be able to bring Mass to you at home. Each Sunday at 11:00 AM Mass will be streamed through YouTube. We will also have a live stream of the church with gentle music playing each Wednesday night at 6:00 PM. We encourage you to view our stream through Youtube and take a few minutes in this hard and stressful time to pray and meditate. You can find the St. Edward's Youtube page here. Be sure to subscribe and hit the bell icon to be notified when we post a new video or go live. Due to Diocesan policy, the building will not be unlocked during these times. All live-streams will be recorded and will be uploaded to Youtube to be watched at a later time as well.

Please Support One Another, Especially Our Isolated And Infirmed

We are a large parish. As always, we ask that you check in on one another, especially with those who are isolated or infirmed. It is important during this time to not be socially isolated. We need to encourage and support one another and lift each others’ spirits. Please inform us of anyone you know who has a particular need that has to be met. You can call Mary Ann Sekellick at 518-371-7372, x224, or Fr. Pat at 518-371-7372 x225.
