Moses is standing on a ledge, on a cliff because Ed felt Moses was "put on a pedestal."

Around Moses' head is a crown or halo with 12 stars representing his closeness with God and the 12 tribes of Israel.

Some of the stones by Moses' feet were made from the same piece of wood from a thorn apple tree. Ed rotated the wood on the saw to create different refractions of light. He said the commandments can be "a thorn in your side." They represent a goal that as humans we cannot attain. The apple caused us to break the law in the Garden of Eden. That is why he chose the wood from a thorn apple tree.
