With
the revisions of the Roman Missal, the Lector no longer carries the
book in procession to or from the altar. Please
place the Lectionary on the lectern, along with the book of petitions
before Mass begins.
You will continue to walk in the
entrance procession, but will not
process out with the priest at the end of
When it is
time for your reading, walk to the CENTER in front of the altar,
and before ascending the altar steps, make a momentary pause and slight
bow of the head, then walk directly (NOT DIAGONALLY) up the
steps and proceed to the lectern.
When your reading is finished and you
have descended the steps, do NOT stop and bow before you return
to your seat.
After the second reading, when there is
a deacon assisting, the Lector should place the book on the
railing behind the lectern.
