  •   Assist with the counting, recording and deposit of the Sunday offertory collection  as well as any special collections received from  weekend or special liturgies.

BEREAVEMENT/Solace TEAM
  • Make visits to bereaved families to provide support and information. Provide post funeral luncheons/coffees, if requested.  Follow-up with family after the funeral.   
  • Requirement - ability to respond on short notice - daytime availability for most tasks.

BUILDING AND Grounds Committee
  • Monitor and recommend changes to and maintenance of church property.  Includes change of season tasks and trimming, planting, watering, etc. 
  • Requirement - One or two days during Spring & Fall; a couple of hours per week during the summer.  Rotating schedule.   Assist with general repairs and upkeep to the church property.  Help with occasional seasonal tasks (Christmas, Easter)

  •   Coordinates collection of gifts at Christmas for the elderly poor.  Works in conjunction with  Saratoga County Social Services and Catholic Charities of Saratoga County.

  • Involves arrangement and care of altar flowers.  Help decorate the church for holiday and special liturgical celebrations.  Weekday and/or weekend tasks

Friendly Visitors to Homebound
  • Telephone & visit homebound & elderly in the parish.  Ministry is designed to help maintain their link with the parish and the outside world.  Requirement - people who are friendly, patient & have a sense of humor.

Pastoral Care
(Hospital/Nursing Home Visitors):
  • Visit parishioners in area hospitals & nursing homes on a weekly/monthly basis.  Requirement - people who are friendly, patient & dependable.

Emergency Intervention
  • Meals Provide meals to parishioners in need of support during illness, hospitalization & other emergencies.
  • Transportation: Provide transportation to Mass, doctor, dentist  & important appointments for the elderly and those without means of transportation.  
  • Welcome Table/Soup Kitchen:  Plan, purchase, prepare & serve a meal for over 200 needy persons at St. John’s/St. Ann’s Parish, Albany on second Tuesday, once a month.  Time commitment 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM.

BISHOP’S APPEAL COMMITTEE

Telephone Follow-up


  • Plans, coordinates, records and tabulates the donations and pledges to the annual Bishop’s Appeal conducted in the parish each year during April & May
  • Assist in making telephone calls during the final stage of the annual Bishop’s Appeal.

PARISH NURSE MINISTRY
  • Utilizes licensed nurses from the parish community to be the liaisons between the health care system and the congregation.  Nurses provide blood pressure screening once a month, making appropriate referrals where needed.  A flu shot clinic is offered each Fall.  Information in the form of hand-outs and pamphlets are provided to the parish community on various aspects of health care awareness using a different monthly theme.

  • Meets the first Monday of each month at 10:00 AM in the Parish Center to make rosaries for distribution to the missions.

  • Organization for men (age 18 & older) dedicated through the ideals of charity, unity, fraternity & patriotism to the promotion of family & church.  Meets 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month.

  • A Support group for Widowed, Divorced and Separated meets the second and fourth Saturday of the month at 8:15 PM.

Parents & Tots Group
  • Parents & Pre-school children meet Mondays from 10:00 AM - 12:00 NOON in the Parish Center.  Children learn to socialize & play together, while parents build community by sharing information, concerns & support among themselves.  Meets year round.
