of Reflection: Gaudete..December 16, 2007 reflection by Margaret Bryant
Advent skies, especially in late afternoon, depict the season. Slate gray charcoal masses glide gently across a leaden sky. Then, wait! Watch and wait, wait!
The pinks, peach, roses, pale blue, magenta streaks brazenly, weaving recklessly through the dark expanse. Gaudete! The dark side of the human condition is overcome by the bright side. The Readings for Gaudete Sunday speak of: the feeble hand, the weak knee, blind eye, lame limb, mute tongue.
Yes, rose chards of light cut through the darkness. Our weaknesses are painted in soothing, joyful, radiant light of the Savior. Waiting and hoping patiently for the Christ in one another to heal the misery in one another----- the oppressed with justice----- the hungry with food------ the blind with sight.
The Lord is coming constantly and is ever here. Patiently watch the Advent sunsets and pray:
Lord, come and save us!
