Fall 2010 Programs

The Gospel of Matthew -  Rev. Patrick Butler

“Do not think that I have come to destroy the law and the prophets. I have come , not to destroy them but to fulfill them.” This passage serves as the keynote to the Gospel of Matthew. Jesus makes it clear to Jewish Christians that by following him they were not abandoning their Jewish faith but would be finding the ultimate purpose and fulfillment of the Law and Prophets. This course will use a methodology of Narrative Theology to explore the central themes of Matthew’s Gospel.

Monday evenings (7-9PM)     September 13, 20, 27; October 4, 11

God on Trial: The Book of Job -  G. Peter Avvento

Considered by many scholars to be the “crown jewel” of the Hebrew Bible in terms of literary style and composition, this course will explore the struggle of Job with the unseen God, his demand for explanations in the midst of pain and atrocities and his desire to come face to face with this majestic force. Job is the accuser, God is the defendant and we are the jury.

Monday evenings (7-9PM)     October 25; November 1, 8, 15

Year Long Outreach Opportunity

The Emmaus Project   -   Bob Daley
